why dedicate my child? (answer)
-
Parent-child dedication is a time for parents to dedicate themselves to the task of godly nurture. It is the consecration of the child, at present too young to understand, for a future, saving encounter with the living God.

What is dedication versUs infant baptism? (answer)
-
We believe the Bible clearly teaches and models “Believer’s Baptism,” which is a conscious, obedient choice to follow Jesus Christ as a visible disciple. This decision is individual and personal. It can only be made when a child has developed intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually to the point of understanding personal sin, spiritual need, and God’s grace through Jesus Christ.
Only God knows the motives, conscience, and intentions of the heart. He alone knows when a child is able to understand his or her personal need for salvation. Children can, and do, understand their spiritual need when they begin to recognize their own sin. There is no set age when this spiritual sensitivity becomes apparent. It is the responsibility of parents to train and nurture their children, pointing them to the grace of God through Jesus Christ, who alone can forgive sin.

Baptism Schedule / Registration (more info)
-
The first step to baptism is to attend a baptism class. Classes are held for children through 6th grade, students 7th-12th grade, and adults. Pastor Paul Emanuelson leads the children’s classes, Pastor David Boyd leads the student baptisms and the adult classes are typically led by Pastor Roger Thompson or Pastor Brent Birdsall. During the classes, the pastors discuss at length why baptism is important and will assist in determining your preparedness for baptism. Please check the Calendar.

What does the Bible say? (answer)
-
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 NIV
Being publicly baptized is an act of obedience to God. The Great Commission makes baptism one of the key factors of God’s plan for each person’s life. It is a public identification with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Who should be baptized? (answer)
-
It is the Lord’s desire that everybody come to know Him as their personal Savior and be obedient servants. Baptism is an act of obedience to the Lord following salvation. Because of your faith in Christ as your Savior, baptism is a step that shows others that you follow Jesus Christ.
There is no magic number or age restriction on baptism. Each person matures differently and must to truly understand what he or she is doing and be able to articulate their desire to follow Jesus in order to be baptized.
It is generally not necessary to be re-baptized. Once you have been baptized by immersion as a Christ-follower, surrounded by an assembly of believers, you do not need to be re-baptized. The only time someone would be re-baptized is if they were baptized as an infant and later in life found baptism to be an act that follows their decision to follow Jesus Christ. Then out of obedience to scripture they would follow in a believer’s baptism.Contact: Clare Boyer for Classic worship clareb@bereanbaptist.com

What is the purpose of baptism? (answer)
-
Baptism takes our personal faith and makes it an objective experience. It announces to everyone that we have surrendered to a new authority in our lives.” - Bruce Shelley
One of the primary purposes of baptism is to make an individual, public declaration of faith. It is not intended to be a private experience. This is a way of saying that you want everyone to know that you belong to Jesus Christ and have surrendered your will to Him.

Why immersion? Are Baptists really just “all wet?” (answer)
-
The word for “baptism” that is used in the original language of the Bible literally means that the person is fully submerged, made completely wet. This is also what the word “baptism” means in the Scriptures. This complete immersion is further symbolic of being buried with Christ, then coming out of the water in the newness of life.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV
“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him.” Matthew 3:16 NIV

Be prepared to meet at least fifteen minutes prior to the start of the service. We will be meeting at the lower level of the church outside of Room 114 by the vending machines. There is a restroom located near the youth rooms/vending machines. Please wear a white or off white t-shirt, shorts or slacks and undergarments. Steps to having a wedding at Berean (answer)
-
Due to the large number of wedding requests, only those who are members or regular attenders of Berean Baptist Church or are children of members or attenders will be considered for having a ceremony at our location.
First you will need to contact Kay Larson to set an appointment for a pre-marriage interview between a Berean pastor and the couple. If you desire to be married at Berean by a pastor outside of Berean, you still need to meet with a Berean pastor. Kay can also let you know if your desired wedding date is available and will be able to answer questions regarding Berean’s fees and policies.
Following the interview, you will receive a wedding packet ( download wedding packet ). Included in the packet are forms that must be filled out and returned prior to any “official” scheduling taking place. There is also a refundable security deposit that is required to reserve your wedding date. The Wedding Coordinator’s contact information is listed in this packet and you will need to contact her to get your wedding date on the official Berean calendar. You will be provided a Wedding Coordinator. She will assist you in planning all aspects of your special day including reserving the Worship Center and changing rooms and coordinating any technical support that is needed.
Please note that weddings will not be scheduled on Sundays, during a holiday weekend or during the month of December or the week of Vacation Bible School (last week of July).
